  1. Use a  needle with a sharp point, like a 100/16 denim, fairly heavy thread, a longer stitch legnth, and a slightly loose tension. You dont want to make large holes or rip them with too tight tension. I would also use a roller or teflon foot if you can get one. It will make moving  the vinyl under the needle easier. Most sewing machine shops or even Joann have generic low shank feet feet that fit most machines. Good luck with your project.

  2. you could try a denim needle - size 16 or if thats not enough then try the size 22 needle - can't remember what it is recommended for but have used it for canvas

  3. you dont need a particular size. it shuld just be small, so it doesnt make too big of a hole.

  4. probavly a 16 also make sure you use a heavy duty thread....i don't think reg thread will hold up

  5. You don't need a special needle to sew vinyl. I've sewn vinyl pockets for ID cards to wallets and used the same needle I did for the construction of the wallet itself (size 80). The one thing you should look out for is that your stitch length isn't too short, or it might cause the vinyl to tear out easier, because of the perforation. A stitch length setting of 2.5 should work fine.

    Hope this helps.
