s*x Education?

We're doing s*x ed (F.L.A.S.H.) in school. We all know how it works, and a lot of kids, probably most the class, just starts laughing about it all. I try to be mature about it, but I just can't stop laughing. I mean, sometimes some of the stuff isn't even funny. What can I do to control myself from laughing about this?

In some situations people will laugh if they feel awkward or uncomfortable about something.  There's no reason to go along with the crowd here.

I teach FLASH, which I jokingly call FLESH to make the students laugh. Most of the uncomfortable laughing comes from kids trying to be serious when some of the stuff really is pretty funny. The teachers' discomfort at teaching FLESH can add to the situation as well. My female colleagues take this stuff very seriously and the girl group is completely stressed out, while the boy group that the P.E. teacher and I teach are laughing and joking every day.

I don't know if you have exactly the same curriculum as we do, but we have worksheets where the kids have to label the various parts of the body. I give my students extra credit for creative tattooing or coloring of the pictures as well. Last year a kid made a very convincing elephant using pink and grey colored pencils and the male diagram.

So, in this teacher's opinion, don't worry about controlling yourself. It's funny. Laugh. I do.
