I broke off a friendship with someone when I found out the details of their conviction. He sent me 2 pieces of mail without his address and without him signing his name, but the writing is absolutely identifiable. Is this a violation?

  1. Any contact with a s*x offender is a no no. if you knowingly have 100% proof that the letters were sent by a convicted s*x offender then you should turn this over to your supervisor. This is a violation of his probation and can jeopardize your job.

  2. "s*x offender" is a status only. Once they complete probation, there are no longer bound by anything other than lifetime registration.

Even if he was on probation, a letter would not be a violation. However, contacting you after told not to be could be a violation. A call to his Probation Officer should solve your problem.

  3. It is unlikely that a s*x offender sending a piece of mail to you (whether or not at school) would violate his probation or negatively impact him .

Typically the only way a s*x offender violates their status as a s*x offender is by committing another sexually based crime, not registering in a set time period (4 days here) or moving without advising the local PD.

If you don't want to receive mail from this individual or have any further contact apply for a restraining order.

  4. It would be if you are a minor, it is likely that you are not one so it is unlikely to be a violation.

s*x offenders are prohibited to seek the company of children, not that of adults. Now, if you don't want him to contact you there are other legal venues you could use.

  5. Depends on what they say and what they were sent for. Turn them over to the police and let them make the decision for you. Then it is out of your hands.

    Good luck!

  6. No, he did not come to the school!!!! He is probably just trying to make contact with you, send them back, or notify the police that you are being harassed.

  7. If the admin finds out, you are skating on thin ice.
