s*x and the city movie party ideas?

I'm planning a s*x and the city movie party for my friends (we are all 40 plus) what are some good recipies,decortaing ideas, game ideas, and other music and party ideas for it? Thanks so much!!

Everyone wear dresses and play croquet. Do it outside and have festive food. Make it colorful and play dance music through speakers. It would be totally perfect.

DECORATIONS

The first thing needed is decorations. One way to decorate is make each corner of the room, or different rooms in the house, themed toward each character. Carrie’s can have a laptop or writers supplies, a lot of clothes strewn about, Vogue or style magazines sitting around. Samantha’s should be very modern, but very s**y with a lot of passionate colors. Charlotte’s should be very preppy, Park Avenue with plaid. Think Ralph Lauren. Miranda’s should be professional but a little dorky with a lot of white. Maybe put a television in her area or Yankee items.

Decorate the rest of the space with “I heart NY” stuff and shoe paraphernalia. Go over the top, glamorous and shiny.

Food and costumes

DRINKS:

Serve cosmopolitans. What else? If not all the ladies like cosmos, make appletinis or Manhattans. Have appetizers of shrimp and little sandwiches and for dinner serve Chinese food (since it’s a main theme in the show with Carrie’s “slump” food and Miranda always orders from Shanghai Garden).

DECORATING OPTION:

Another option for this sort of themed party is decorating the rooms, and planning the food, based on the places the girls frequented, such as Sushi Samba, Pastis, Il Cantinori, Tao, etc.

DRESS:

Have the guests come dressed as their favorite character. However, not everyone has to come as one of the four main characters. Mix it up a bit and have people come as Amelita, Susan Sharon, the “Face Girl” or other favorite characters.

It's game time

GAMES:

For games, trivia would probably work best. It can be teams, charades or whatever works best for the host. Here are some trivia questions to help get the ball rolling:

1) What is the name of the NY Times reviewer that reviewed Carrie’s book?

2) What the real name of the “The Face Girl”?

3) What is Mr. Big’s real name?

4) What is the name on the card Samantha steals from the SoHo House?

5) What is the name of the woman Samantha becomes a L*****n for?

6) What song did Natasha walk down the aisle to when she married Mr. Big?

7) What was the name of Samantha’s assistant that quit and threw the Hampton’s HoDown?

    * Bonus points if the person can recall her full last name

8) What food does Carrie cancel after she hears about the “funky spunk guy?

9) What is the name of the city Aiden’s country cabin is in?

10) What language does Charlotte learn in order to speak to her future adopted child?

Or try to see who can name one-liners. Maybe who said it, what the situation was or what episode it was in.

"Look, Charlotte brought PARTY FAVORS"

PARTY FAVORS:

Last but not least, the party favors. They can be joke items like tampons. This comes from the episode where Miranda finds out she’s pregnant and Charlotte finds out she’s not. Charlotte brings a rather large box of tampons to brunch and slams them down on the table. Carrie then says “Look, Charlotte brought party favors.” Favors can also include a small mani/pedi set, a shoe keychain, “I heart NY” keychain, cosmo mix, a mini kama sutra book, etc.

You can serve Fried chicken being that's what Miranda had at her baby shower, or do the chinese food since they were eating that a lot in the show too.  You can pick either food from certain episodes, or just go with what what was a recurring theme.  There were the best brownies when Carrie and Samatha were in line at that lunch place, I can't remember the name.  They ate Chinese, they ate breakfast together a lot, Charlotte made them sandwiches, etc.

For decorating, go with some clear stringed Christmas lights around the rooms, and have some NY posters of the areas they were in.  The business district, Brooklyn, Yankee Stadium, etc.  or stick to areas that were main points.  You could decorate like each character's house, but that could become too involved.  I would go with the city and hang some posters and some clear lights, the city is always lit up!

For favors, go to hbo.com and they have AWESOME keychains and pins, one pin is of the cosmos, and one is a shopping bag and a shoe and it says, "shopping is my cardio.  If there's not many of you, you can purchase them and give them out at the end of the night.  They also have martini glasses with each character's name on them.  I would go there and check out what's there, they have some cool things!  You could even tell your guests to go there and get a t-shirt to wear for the night, they're not that expensive.  Some say I heart s*x and the City, some just say s*x and the City, etc.  You can each wear a t-shirt, or dress as your favorite character, etc.  I would definitely check out HBO.com and see what they have, they DO have awesome things there!  They even have a soundtrack!  Amazon.com also sells a s*x and the city soundtrack of the show.

For games, there is a s*x and the City trivia game that you can buy, it's on the hbo.com website, toysrus.com and even amazon.com or you can just make your own.  If you want to make if fair though, buy the game so no one knows what questions are being asked, including you!  That way, it's more fun for you too!  You can be in on the game too!  

You can also buy a pinata of a shoe and stuff it with things like little lipglosses, gum, nail polish, not expensive things, just some fun things, and candy too. Get the one that has the pull string instead of hitting it to open it.  The shoe would fit perfect with the theme!

The characters used to play poker and cards, you can do that too with your friends if you know how.  

You can also get some pink, black, and white balloons and cluster them in the corners of the room, with that and the lights, and the posters, I think it will be enough and a nice touch.  

I also think if you do the food with like chinese, pizza (after they went to RAW), fried chicken, etc, you can have a buffet of the foods of the show.  You can just go to KFC, your local fast food places and get food and have it out. There was even burgers when Carrie was dating burger and she was eating her's and he told her "you like your beef".

For desserts, they had frozen yogurt (Charlotte and Harry), there was wedding cake more than once but you can just do cake,  ice cream, etc

For drinks of course there is cosmos, dirty martinis, beer, water, coffee, etc.

I think you should decorate in pink and black.....black tablecloth, pink napkins and plates.....plastic champagne glasses.

Serve  the following:

"CARRIE"S carrot pinwheels

1 8oz cream cheese

1/4 c. chopped nuts

2 grated carrots

1 tsp. minced onion

Mix all ingredients.  Cut edges off loaf of brown or white bread. Spread mixture on bread and made rolls.  Freeze overnight.  Slice into sections.

"SAMANTHA"S" hot sausage balls

3 cups bisquick

8 oz sharp grated cheese

1 lb. hot sausage

Mix all ingredients, roll into balls, and bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes until brown.

"MIRANDA'S" marshmellow brownies

1/4 cup Butter

3/4 cup flour

1/2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup Chocolate chips

1 egg

1/4 tsp salt

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup mini marshmellows

1/4 cup chopped nuts

Melt chips and butter over low heat, stirring constantly.  Cool to lukewarm. Beat in egg. Combine dry ingredients and stir into chip mixture. Gently fold in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased 9x9 pan and bake at 350 for 20 - 25 minutes.

"CHARLOTTE'S" cheese ball

2 8 oz packs cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup butter

1 TAB prepared Dijon mustard

1 tsp minced garlic

1 (1oz) pack ranch dressing mix

Mix all ingredients, form into a ball.  Chill 8 hours before serving.

"BIG'S" bold dip

1 large carton sour cream

1 jar Armour dried beef

1 bunch scallions

Chop scallions and beef.  Mix together with sour cream.  Serve with Captain Wafers.

As for games, I would have guests as they arrive write down how they think the movie will end.  Another is to play charades. You can get prizes to do with s*x and the City....you can buy things on Ebay that are really inexpensive.

I would also do party favors  and put them in the Chinese takeout containers ( you can find them at beaucoup.com and they are not expensive, plus they come in different colors also).

ANYWAY<<<<<the point is to have a blast, remember the show and always wonder how Carrie walks so much in those VERY high Manolo Blahnik shoes!!!!!
