What's the worst that will happen if you have s*x before your 6 week check up after having a baby?

I had a natural birth, no stitches, no tears nothing

  1. If you feel up to it, go for it.  Just take it easy, and you might want some lube.

  2. s*x is usually safe after the bleeding has stopped, because that is a good indication that the cervix is once against closed.  However, the worst that can happen is that it kills you.  There is a rare complication called "air embolism" that causes a heart attack, killing a few women every year.

"Another precaution that should be taken is to avoid blowing air into the v****a as this can cause an air embolism. This can be fatal, as the air can pass from the v****a into damaged veins in the wall of the uterus, potentially leading to complete obstruction in the heart".

  3. You risk infection if your cervix hasn't closed up completely.

  4. nothing. but ur docotr will know.... i did a ntural no tears or epesiotamies but she still knew and of course she'll say dont do it, but nothing will happen especially if u have no stitches, it might be a lil painful though, and and also reme, ber of all the women who go in for 6 week checkup and find out they are pregnant so you are very prone to getting pregnant again really easily

  5. When your postpartum bleeding stops, that means that the cervix has closed. For many women, this happens before the six week check.

I also had a natural birth, no stitches, no tears, and my CNM ok'd having s*x with the caveat that being gentle might make things more comfortable later. (The pelvic floor muscles can get pretty sore if that advice isn't followed. That's tested and true here!)

Edit: I would like to add that if you are eco-breastfeeding (co-sleeping at night, babywearing if possible, and exclusively breastfeeding at the breast [not expressed]), then your body is likely producing enough prolactin to suppress ovulation for a minimum of three months. And gosh, guys, pregnancy isn't a "worst thing that can happen"!!! Some people regard it as a gift.

  6. you could get pregnant again. i had a c-section this time and really did not feel up to anything and when i went back for a 4 week check up the doc asked me if i had s*x and i laughed and he said well you never know so i guess a lot of people do. i think with my first (vaginal delivery with stitches) i waited about 5 weeks. but if you feel up to it you could always try and if it was painful just stop but unless you want another baby be careful.

  7. If you feel comfortable, go for it! Just make sure you use protection; you are extremely fertile after having a baby =]

[I've known of women showing up to their 6 week post-partum check up, pregnant again! =]

  8. My midwife typically did the post-delivery check up at four weeks rather than the standard six weeks. She said that s*x was fine after that, but I honestly don't know if there is any increased risk of problems. For what it is worth, I was fine.
