  1. Random things could always make suppressed childhood memories resurface, especially something as deep as sexual behavior.

  2. i would certainly think so! although i have a criminal record for dui etc, i was eligible and recieved a pardon 8 years ago. i take all courses offered and attend every workshop, all my family siblings, ex wife etc, are approved foster parents and i am a licensenced intervenor with dept. of indian affairs. it sometimes would shock me when a child "out of the blue" told me they were upset, by something as simple as a t.v. commercial. i now have learned that repressed memorize need to be maintained. meaning it takes an effort to keep these thoughts out of your head. if you do remember, then try to relax and be grateful it means you are well on the way to healing.

  3. Sure! I mean,if that's the only sexual experience someone has ever had then it natural for them to think that.

  4. Unfortunately, suppressed memories can surface at any time, anywhere.  It could be the sight of something, the smell, a sound, anything that could be tied to the event could reawaken a suppressed memory.

If every time you think about a certain aspect of s*x and it makes you uneasy, there exists a good possibility that it's a memory about to surface but continually gets pushed back into the recesses of your mind.

I believe that most people who have suppressed memories are aware that something about their life does not fit right.  They may be puzzled by their feelings; but in many cases it's better to not know what you have worked so hard to keep from becoming recalled.  Let sleeping dogs lie!

However, in other cases a recalled memory can be liberating.

  5. I think you have a presumption that nobody in the past has committed similar mistakes. Doing mistake and committing error is common among people. The greatness really lies in realizing our past mistakes, repenting  for such foolish act and not repeating similar mistakes again. Take a bull dog determination that you will not commit such mistakes.

About your valid doubt about how to handle such thoughts when it resurfaces, I would suggest that you should gain satisfaction and encouragement that you have changed towards better and you are now trying to become best. With such feeling you will forget yourself. It is your self-conscience which is trying to recall this and this self-conscience also knows that you have escaped from bad route.

  6. Indeed it can, it can trigger off all sorts of emotions and suppressed thoughts and it can happen at any age, if you are feeling bad about something I suggest you go and see your doctor and get referred for counselling, please don't let any negative thoughts fester it is the worse thing you can do, if it is someone you know advise them to do the same.

  7. sounds possible to me.. simple psychology really.. one certain act or behavior is tied to the memory in the victim's mind so experiencing that act or behavior again leads to a post-traumatic breakdown.. makes sense to me
