Sexual Relations before and after meeting the legal Age of Consent?

Ok, lets say that right now you are a 17 year old school student, and you are in a relationship with someone who is 16 years old. You both live in Los Angeles California, and you both get along fine.

But, your birthday is coming up, and soon you will be 18, and will be considered an adult legally. Your partner on the other hand will remains 16 for 4 months after your birthday, before they turns 17.

In the given situation, if one were to continue the relationship after age 18, with someone who is either 1 or 2 years below the age of consent (ages 16 and 17), is it possible to get into any trouble, such as if the relationship was sexual before either partners met the age of consent, and remained sexual after one of the partners met the age of consent...?

What if both individuals were within the same grade, school, and graduated at the same given date, meaning that both partners within the relationship were school students, without having any superior authority rights, other than the fact that one partner is legally an adult...?

Does the age gap make a difference?

Thanks!

  1. well, im not sure about california, but in where i live the legal age for consent is 16, which means the state cant press charges BUT the parents can! So as long as both of your parents are cool then you should be good! But be safe!

  2. Hey, i was bored so i looked up statuatory rape in CA. You're good as long as the minor is not more than 3 years younger. Sooo that would mean that you would have to be 18 havin s*x with a 14 y/o. 3 years and under you're legal!! HAVE FUN and use a condom/bc!!
