s**y Tennis Star Ana Ivanovic Hopes To Find Spark At Wimbledon
Ana Ivanovic failed to push through the French Open smoothly. The former world number one had another slump in her title bid since her French Open title two years ago. Ivanonic saw her foray into the next round of the French Open fizzle when she lost to Alisa Kleybanova of Russia, 6-3, 6-0.
Despite her previous track record, Ivanovic was unseeded due to her low rank, 42nd. Her lost game to Kleybanova served as her worst outing among her six French Open title bid.
Ivanovic explained that her lost was due to several factors. She further expressed that her play was not something she expected in the match against Kleybanova.
The match was evidently short, spanning less than an hour. Consequently, the match between Ivanovic and Kleybanova was delayed for around 41/2 hours.
Aside from the match delay, the game was also later interrupted twice. Ivanovic also known as the previous French Open title holder recorded to match wins during last previous three Grand Slams.
Another factor which contributed to Ivanovic’s struggle at the Roland Garros was her right shoulder injury. The former French Open champion had been nursing the injury which proved disadvantageous to her services against Kleybanova.
Ivanovic’s right shoulder was unreliable and she barely was able to provide decent first serves. Her successful first severs accounted for just 35 percent during the second set of the match.
Ivanovic was only able to save 17 service points while incurring seven double faults. The Serb has a record of 10-10 for 2010. Ivanovic has two winning matches under her belt during the previous three Grand Slam tournaments.
Although she had to struggle at the French Open, Ivanovic continues to look into the brighter side of things. She put across how she finds herself on the right track doing things the right way. Ivanovic further explained that she has a plan in mind.
Additionally, she expressed her gratefulness to her team and the improvements that were made throughout the course of her career.
This is observed last winter when she consulted and got help from the Heinz Gunthardt. Grunthardt is the previous coach of Steffi Graf. Upon hiring Gunthardt, Ivanovic noted that the progress she made as a player. However, it would still take some getting used to before Ivanovic adjusts to her new kind of play.
Her play pattern entails practice before she could further use it during high level matches against top players. Though the play pattern has its ups and downs, Ivanovic is convinced that she threading the right course. Her opponent, Kleybanova has advanced into the next round of the French Open.
The conditions during the match also made it difficult for players to keep up with the match. The delay and the nerves within the waiting time is a torture for most players.
Players during the match day between Ivanovic and Kleybanova all expressed their laments over the delay of the plays and the pressure of being in the waiting rooms.
In the same way, matches such as the singles game of Serena Williams were also postponed. It was decided that postponed games resume on the sixth day of the French Open.
In spite of the loss, Ivanovic remains optimistic that she can find a much need spark in the Wimbledon Open.
The former world’s no.1 also hopes that she will finally adjust to her new brand of play and take good results from it.
Ivanovic is scheduled to play on several tune-up grass court tournaments before heading on All-England Court for the Wimbledon Open.
