Shabnim Ismail waiting for ICC's Women Cricket Challenge to begin
South Africa’s new-ball bowler, Shabnim Ismail wants to set an example at the forthcoming ICC Women's Cricket Challenge which kicks off from the 6th of October in South Africa. The tournament will feature women teams ranked between the 5th
and 10th spots in the ICC women ratings. All five teams will play against each other in a series of one-day internationals followed by a T20 series.
Shabnim Ismail told the media that she is quite excited to lead http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757’s pace attack in the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket Challenge. She said that young bowlers in South Africa looked up to her and she wants to utilize this opportunity to set an example
for others.
The 21-year-old Ismail, who is the youngest players in South Africa’s Women squad, started her international career 3 years ago when she was just 18. In this time, the right-arm medium-pacer has become an indispensible part of an inexperienced South African
side.
The squad has recently wrapped up a training camp at Potchefstroom and Ismail believes that the team is in good form. She said that the inexperience in the team is not a bad thing as all that matters at the end of the day is team work and cooperation. She
said that the recently held training camp at Potchefstroom had gelled the team very well.
The home conditions would be an additional advantage for the South African team that the side is all set to benefit from. "We trained hard at Potchefstroom. We saw the wicket, it was flat. We took note of the conditions," said the frontline bowler.
The batting department for South Africa will depend heavily on its captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mignon-du-Preez-c76274. Ismail opined that the side is pretty optimistic about the upcoming tournament. She said that the tournament would be a challenge for the inexperienced
home team. She reckoned that the team wanted to win the tournament in order to become the best in the world.
According to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ismail-c64603, the fitness of the players was the main focus during the training camp. However, South Africa’s strong bowling attack was expected to lead the way. All that the side needed to work upon is their batting line-up, ensuring that the batsmen
stayed at the crease for considerable time periods. It was glaringly evident on the tour to the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 when South Africa kept on losing wickets in quick succession throughout the tournament.
According to Ismail, the West Indian women will bring tough competition for the home side during the tour. West Indies had earlier toured South Africa at the end of last year and had given the hosts quite a tough fight.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110 Steyn from South Africa is Shabnim Ismail’s role model. She opined that she wanted to bowl like Steyn and wished that if she could get into Steyn’s mind to know what makes the prolific bowler so calm while bowling to the greats of the game.
Ismail is waiting anxiously for the ICC Women's Cricket Challenge to start. "It is important for me because it was a dream for me to play for South Africa. This is my life. I love the game just too much and it has been my passion for long," Ismail told.
The opening match of the tournament will be played between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 Women on the 6th of October in South Africa.
