  1. The length of anchor chain between two connecting shackles, called a "shot of chain" is 90 feet. A ship can have between 8 and 12 shots aboard connected to each bow anchor. The chain diameter has no bearing on the length of a shot.

Well, tom and teacher are both right but if you want to get really pedantic about it, the length BETWEEN 2 shackles is the length of the connecting shackle, which in 99% of the cases is a shackle called a kenter lugless joining shackle. the size of that will depend on the size od the cable/links being used but on a medium sized cargo ship will be a little over a foot. ;)
