Shackleford determined to land the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap at Saratoga
The 4-year-old Shackleford is somewhat having a dream run this season, and his ability to string together victories and post a hat-trick will be put to test when runs in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap at Saratoga on 5th August,
2012.
Dale L. Romans trained versatile runner has immense potential, and over the course of his career, he has raced over several distances, but will be taking on the six furlong distance for the first time.
The trainer decided to run him in this race so it serves as a workout before the Grade 1 Forego Stakes on 1st September, 2012, at Saratoga which runs over a distance of seven furlongs.

He succeeded in the Grade 1 Preakness Stakes on 21st May, 2011.
It seems everything is going in his favour, but among the field of eight runners is the Kiaran McLaughlin trained, Emcee, who seems to be at the top of his game.
The Godolphin owned runner has a record of 3-0-1 in 5 starts with a victory in an Allowance Optional Claimers at Belmont Park on 5th May, 2012, where he completed the seven furlong distance swiftly in 1 minute and 21.78 seconds.
There is nothing that the four-year-old, Shackleford, cannot do. He has experience which will definitely work in his favour along with impressive credentials of 5-4-1 in his 16 starts and earnings worth $2,741,381.
He will be at the top of his game in this event, ready to add another victory to his record.
