Shad Royston to leave Bradford Bulls by end of this season
The Bradford Bulls have confirmed that Shad Royston will depart from the franchise at the end of this season after playing for one year only with the franchise, as he has intentions of moving to a French club called Pia.
Learning about his latest intentions, Bulls also offered to renegotiate the contract terms with him but the offer was turned down by the Aussie player, as he had made up his mind about moving to another franchise.
While speaking about Royston’s move, Stuart Duffy, the Bulls’ football manager stated, “We offered Shad a new, improved contract, but he has indicated to us that he wishes to move on at the end of the season. We'd like to thank him for his services to the
club and we wish him every success for the future.”
Royston joined in with the Bulls for the 2011 season and before that, he was playing for the Halifax since 2006. He specialises the rugby palette as fullback but can also fill in for the Centre and Loose forwards position.
The Australian utility back is a leading try scorer, as revealed by the statistics with his previous clubs. He has the honour of scoring 103 tries in 101 appearances for his previous club, Halifax and as he marched into the Super League with the Bradford
to take his performance a notch up.
Having made 16 appearances for the Super League encounters so far, he has scored nine tries with Bradford. His season with Bulls has been a brilliant one in terms of the participation from his side. He has also played in the Carnegie Challenge Cup 2011,
and managed to score a try against his former club.
Before joining Halifax, he had also played for two second tier rugby clubs. One of them is a West Yorkshire-based professional rugby league club known as the Batley Bulldogs that contests the Co-operative Championship. The other franchise is Doncaster-based
franchise, the Doncaster Lakers, with which Royster did not spend much time as he departed from the club the same year of his joining.
Bulls, which had as yet not utilised this Australian fullback to his maximum potential, were not pleased to find out about this shocking news of his departure at the end of this season. All efforts were put up by the Bulls, who had even agreed upon improving
his contract to make him stay longer.
Speculations were around that the Royston had already signed a contract with the French rugby league club because of that Bradford could not do much about holding him back but to bid him farewell on a good will note after thanking him for his services during
his brief stay with Bradford.
