Shadow in eye?

Question

my mom took an eye test and they found a shadow in her right eye, does anyone know what it could be, but i need real answers not guessing. she has diabetes but im not sure if that matters though

It am not familiar with eye doctors using the word "shadow" for anything that I have ever heard of. It is interresting though. Sorry!

Could be

1) a harmless floater

2) diabetic cataract

3) proteins leaking out of a retinal vessel
