Shadows at night = do the rise or fall?

Do they get smaller or bigger, rise or fall when it gets dark? I never paid attention to that sort of thing. I'm not a big shadow person.

  1. Shadows at night are caused by objects emitting light.  A lamppost, for example.  The shadows get longer as you get farther from the source.

    If the moon casts shadows, they will vary in length as it rises and sets, just like shadows caused by the sun.

    In all cases, they will be weaker than shadows caused by the sun

    As for the sea - no, night has no impact on the rise, fall or height of waves.  The moon's pull (gravity causes tides) will but the moon does not rise at the same time every day (or night)
