I'm lookin at buying new Nike Forged Blades

At TGW.com

I was wondering what the heck the flexes mean , there's like

x100 (apparently tiger woods uses this flex)

s400

r300

You choose which flex you want , i'm wondering what that means?

Like if i get x100 the ones tigers got , will i suck with them due to my level of play?

  1. i am assuming that you are new to golf, blades are very unforgiving. you might be better off to start with a nice set of cavity back clubs. for sure i would pay more attention to that then the flex in my shaft's. regular or at the most stiff will more than likely fit your needs but until you get in a good rhythm and develop a consistent swing speed it will be hard to tell.

  2. go to a shop and actually hit some clubs. don't buy clubs online that u have not hit before. No one on here can tell you which flex you need. go to a golf shop and demo some clubs.

  3. Go to a proshop like Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith you will get a free fitted and they have a large selection of clubs new or preowned. Don't  buy a club set online if you doesn't know what you buying. On the proshop you can ask them what ever you want and try it also. They offer golf lesson also.

  4. X100 is for players who have a really high swing speed unless you have an Exceptionally high one you will not see the benefits of it. Since your getting blades it sounds like your a decent player so i would bet on S100 just because you will most likley be happier with it because it wont feel like your swinging REBAR.haha the benefit of Stiff flexes is tighter dispersion rate so less room for error in the shaft but unless you can swing as hard as Tiger you wont hit the irons well with an X.

  5. tigers equipment isnt what makes him good. buying nike stuff isnt going to make u better. if your a beginner blades and x stiff arent the thing to get. x - extra stiff, s- stiff, r-regular. all of these classifications vary by manifacturer so its always best to try the stuff out

  6. X100 are a very stiff True Temper iron shaft, if you have a fast swing speed these are the ones to choose.

S400 are stiff, most companies sell S300's by True Temper the only difference is the S400's are a bit heavier than the standard S300's.

R300 are regular flex True Temper shafts. These are usually but not always for beginners or simply for people with a slower swing speed.

Since you are asking this question I am assuming you are just starting out. If you are willing to pay for some forged irons I would recommend going to a shop or a local golf course that offers fitting and getting fitted. If you buy your clubs from them it should not cost you more or a whole lot more than the clubs you are buying. You may find that there are other clubs that work better for you. It's not about looking cool on the course it's about hitting well.

  7. unless you are a very strong , and a good player would you buy the extra stiff shaft x100. stiff 400 is also for higher level players if you are a average golfer go for regular 300 their is also senior shafts and ladies shafts

  8. If you have to ask this question, that means you're not good enough to play with blades and definitely not good enough to play with x100 shaft.  It will give you nothing but grief.

Buy and play with what you can play well.  I always laugh at hackers with blades who can't break 90 if their life depended on it.

  9. Its not a level of play issue.  It has more to do with your actual swing speed.  X100 is a extra Stiff shaft

S400 is a stiff shaft and R300 is a regular flex shaft.  You need to visit a good golf store and get your swing analyzed to determine what flex you need based on the data.  Most players cannot truthfully swing like Tiger does.  No matter what they say.

  10. It all depends on your swing speed. Go to a pro shop and get properly fitted by someone who knows what they are doing.
