Shah Khan ousts Rambail Gul in 2011 Khyber Pakthunkhwa Snooker Championship at Green Snooker Club
A spectacular crowd gathered at the Green Snooker Club to watch Shah Khan and Rambail Gul in action. Both cuemen were head-to-head against each other in the final match up of 2011 Khyber Pakthunkhwa Snooker Championship in Peshawar, where Khan defeated Gul
by the score line of 7-6 after a tussling encounter.
Third seeded Khan put up an excellent show of his snooker skills against the top seed, Gul, to claim the title. Both potters went neck and neck during the final until Khan grabbed the decider frame victory to outclass his opponent.
The first scrappy frame was completely dominated by the top seed, as he smashed a superb knock of 60 points to clinch the frame by 14-84 and grabbed an early lead of 0-1. The second frame was even easier for Gul as he took it 26-72, firing another 60-point
break to extend his lead 0-2. Gul was in a strong position at this point and was playing confidently.
Khan started playing safe which helped him a lot in winning the third frame by the score line of 61-31 to move within one frame at 1-2. Khan was able to pull level at 2-2 after winning the fourth frame easily by 64-11. Fifth frame was a tussling encounter
as both players were trying to unsettle each other but finally Khan managed to nudge his opponent down with just a one-point margin by 51-50 to lead 3-2.
After tumbling one frame down to Khan, Gul was under immense pressure but he gathered himself and fought back with all his snooker skills. He cruised into a two-frame lead at 3-5 after he took three consecutive frame wins by 40-68, 0-128 and 47-57, respectively.
In the later part of the game, Gul could not retain his lead over Khan, as he lost three straight frames to his opponent by the score line of 59-51, 88-17 and 94-36. Khan was now leading the match by 6-5. Gul smashed some outstanding knocks in the 12th
frame to equalise the scores ay 6-6 and dragged the match into a decider frame.
At the start of the decider frame, both cueists were trying their best to surpass each other but Khan, in the end, stole the show by 76-40 to claim the 2011 Khyber Pakthunkhwa Snooker Championship title. Khan pocketed a winner’s prize money of Rs. 50,000,
while Gul won Rs. 30,000 as runner-up prize money.
