Shah Rukh Khan admits Kolkata Knight Riders are missing Sourav Ganguly
Flamboyant Bollywood star and owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) has admitted that the team is missing its former skipper, Sourav Ganguly, in the ongoing season four of the billion dollar Indian Premier League.
"No doubt we will miss Dada (Ganguly). He is always in our mind. Oh, definitely we will miss him", said the Bollywood hero while talking to a sports website.
The prolific Indian batsmen, who finished the previous IPL edition as leading run scorer for Kolkata http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Knight-c71599 Riders, was surprisingly ignored by not only KKR but also by the remaining nine IPL franchises.
One of the reasons behind his snubbing could be his move to double his base price to 400,000 US dollars.
The side played its IPL season 4 opener at its home ground without Kolkata’s favourite son, Sourav Ganguly, and received a lukewarm response as the 63,500-capacity stadium of Eden Gardens witnessed empty seats with a turnout of just about
25,000.
The meager attendance could have been due to absence of Dada in the team or because of the post-World Cup hangover but that prompted SRK to get into damage control mode as he was quick to dedicate last night’s win over Deccan Chargers to
Ganguly.
The Bollywood superstar also emphasised that the new KKR team is a strong side and hoped the team would perform "better" than it has done in the past editions.
"This new KKR team very much has the capability”, said Shah Rukh http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319, who was accompanied only by Juhi Chawla in the Eden Gardens stands. “It is very sound. I think this year, the new team will perform better", he added further.
The Knight Riders did not have a theme song for the latest IPL edition. When Khan was asked about the theme song, the King of Bollywood said that the franchise is running short of capital so no new theme song was composed this year.
