Shahar Zubari wins Olympic ticket: 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta – Sailing News
Israel’s Shahar Zubari had a terrific sailing experience in the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta as he cruised into the top podium place of the RS:X Men fleet with 21 points. With this impressive victory, Zubari also claimed the 2012 London Olympic Games ticket
and will be performing there soon.
While speaking to the local media, Zubari expressed that he is very happy. The battle in his country was divided over four contests, of which the Delta Lloyd Regatta was the final one. Despite the fact that the weather was not in his favour for the first
three races, but still he managed to make it on top of the fleet.
Zubari added that the conditions were perfect for him on the Medemblik waters. The light breeze was an advantage to him here.
Talking about his Olympic experience, Zubari spoke that Israel has a great sailing tradition at the Olympic Games and for him, the mega tournament will be his last big event for a while. He is aiming to work on a social career after the 2012 London Olympics.
The Israeli sailed in 11 races, including a medal race, and clinched seven bullets to compile 21 points. His lowest finish in the regatta, a sixth podium place in fifth race, was discarded from the total points.
