Pakistan’s former One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 skipper, Shahid Afridi, has met with the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, at Islamabad in Pakistan, today, Tuesday, June 14, 2011.
The meeting was held in the presence of several government officials and the purpose was to seek out a solution for the ongoing rift between the board and the player.
No details were available at the moment, however, according to speculations, Afridi might withdraw his petition with the Sindh High Court in return for his No Objection Certificates.
Afridi was sacked from captaincy following his differences with the team’s head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193. The 31-year-old was disappointed with the decision of the board and decided to quit international cricket until a new board was formulated.
The veteran all-rounder stated, “There is nothing bigger than a man's respect, and the way the board has treated me, there is a limit to everything. I will not play under this board. If a different board comes in, I will definitely return but I cannot play
under this board. I can't play under a board that doesn't respect its players.”
PCB immediately responded to Afridi’s criticism and suspended the player’s contract. According to the board, “A showcause notice has been issued to him (Afridi) seeking his explanation on these comments. His Central Contract has been suspended with immediate
effect. Consequently, all NOCs (No Objection Certificates) granted to him have been revoked. All payments on account of Central Contract have been suspended.”
The entire situation didn’t please Waqar, who claimed that Afridi was immature and never listened to anyone. Waqar further stated that the situation could have been controlled, as difference of opinion was not a huge problem.

front of the media.
Afridi was scheduled to join http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 in the English county, but was unable to do so once the NOC was revoked by the board. The disappointed player decided to take action against PCB and filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC).
