Controversies and Pakistan cricket have always gone hand-in-hand. The latest issue to arise involves the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board warning Shahid Afridi not to be critical about anything related to the cricket board. Afridi, who is the captain of the Pakistani
side, had expressed his disappointment at not being consulted for the selection of the Pakistani squad for the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
The Pakistani board had announced the squad for the T20Is and the ODIs earlier last week, but did not name Afridi as the captain to begin with. It was only after a couple of days that the board said that Afridi would be the captain of the side. This meant that
there were talks in the media that the PCB has not been happy with Afridi’s performances in the recent past.
In response to a question by a Pakistani daily, Express News, Afridi said that he had no say in the selection of the side or he would have pitched in for some different cricketers. Afridi said, "I wanted two to three players other than Sohail Tanvir in the
side."
According to the PCB, the captain was sent a missive prohibiting him from giving any such controversial interviews. However, the PCB also clarified that the letter was not a show-cause notice.
It was not only the captain who was unhappy with the squad. Even the chief selector, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 was selected as the captain of the side and Mohsin said that if he had his
way, Younis Khan would have been a part. Even coach Waqar Younis is said to have not been consulted before the selection of the side. However, the PCB chief Ejaz Butt is said to have had some differences with Younis http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 and that is why he is not a part of
the squad.
