The former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 skipper, Shahid Afridi is likely to miss the Ireland tour later this month due to his father's illness, claimed well placed sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Pakistan cricket team is due to play two One Day Internationals (ODI) against Ireland at the end of this month.
However, the flamboyant all-rounder is deliberating over skipping the tour as he wants to spend more time with his father, who has not feeling well, for the past couple of months.
The player’s father is receiving a treatment in the United States of America (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usa-c759). Sources claimed that Afridi’s brother is in USA to look after his father but the hard-hitting batsman himself wants to be there. He left for States on the 17th of this month and is still there.
"His brother is in the USA but Afridi wants to spend time with his father and might seek permission from the PCB in the next few days", a source said.
Two One Day Internationals between Pakistan and Ireland http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Willey-c81951 be played on 28th and 30th of May.
Afridi was also sacked by the PCB http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-Khan-Niazi-c76385 will lead the limited overs team as well this time.
It has been reported that the shock removal of Afridi as captain has left the 31-year old right-hander disheartened and this could also be one of the reasons he will miss the tour of Ireland.
"Afridi is unhappy with the way he was removed as captain without being given any reason for the decision”, revealed the source. “He is all the more surprised since he led the team to the World Cup semifinal and also to an ODI series win over the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760," the source added.
Afridi was sacked from the captaincy role following his open criticism against head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193, for his interference in selection matters during the five-match ODI series against West Indies earlier this month, which the visitors won by 3-2.
