Pakistan’s former captain, Shahid Afridi, has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court against the punishments imposed on him by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB).
Afridi’s lawyer has challenged PCB’s move to revoke the former skipper’s No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
"We have filed a petition in the (southern province of) Sindh High Court against the sanctions on our client Afridi and have appealed for a stay order against the punishments against him," said Mahmood Mandviwala.
Earlier, Afridi’s legal adviser, barrister Syed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Zafar-c43622, termed PCB’s disciplinary hearing to be against the law of Pakistan.
"We have written to the board raising questions about the process being followed by the board. Our client has already been penalised without getting a fair chance to plead his case and explain his position." Zafar had stated.
"We don't understand what process they are following. We have written to them but if this same process is followed I don't think we will attend the hearing. If our client is not given justice we have other alternatives open to us like going to the courts,"
he stated.
He also claimed, it seems that the PCB has already concluded that Afridi is guilty, without giving him a fair hearing.
Meanwhile, the star all-rounder has also questioned PCB’s authority to repeal his NOCs and central contract without proving any charges.
The former skipper, who was the highest wicket taker during the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cup 2011, has requested the cricket board for the creation of an independent disciplinary committee.
Earlier, the PCB sacked the star player from ODI captaincy, citing violation of the code of conduct.
In response, the former skipper decided to skip the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 tour and eventually resigned from International Cricket.
Punishing Afridi for his move, the PCB decided to revoke his central contract and NOCs, which are required to play abroad.
Afridi, in his recent press conference, accused the Board of bias and disrespecting the veteran.
He also claimed that many other players were facing similar issues but could not come to the forefront due to the Board’s pressure and fear of sanctions.
