Shahid Afridi hails teamwork on winning the series against Caribbean
After winning the 3rd One Day International match on 28 April, 2011, Pakistan sealed the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760. Pakistan’s limited over skipper, Shahid Afridi said that the victory was a result of teamwork.
The Pakistan team has prevailed over the Caribbean with three consecutive wins in the five-match ODI series.
While talking to reporters in a press conference, the 31-year old skipper said that all the players contributed in Pakistan’s triumph and all deserved the credit for the victory.
Afridi explained, “During the three matches all the players at some stage performed their role in winning it for Pakistan so all of them deserve the credit for the series victory.”
On the question of any changes in the squad for the upcoming matches, the right-handed player stated, “Our top priority was to win the series and as now we have won it we will definitely give chance to new comers.”
Earlier on Thursday, 28 April, 2011, Afridi expressed his dissatisfaction with the International Cricket Council’s ODI ranking system. He said, “it was hard to understand how it works.”
Earlier, the ICC made it clear that even if Pakistan whitewashed the Caribbean in the ODI series their ranking will be promoted with by point only.
Speaking to Pakistan Media, Afridi expressed his frustration saying, “there has to be some advantage for the visiting team no matter who’s the opposition.”
It is also important to note that Shahid Afridi is the second skipper after Sri Lankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara who also voiced his dissatisfaction over ICC’s ranking system.
