Shahid Afridi inspires Pakistan to victory over Bangladesh – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, Pakistan’s star all-rounder, once again showed his worth as the cricketer inspired the Green Shirts to victory over Bangladesh in the first One-Day International (ODI) match, played at Shere Bangla National Stadium,
Mirpur on Thursday, December 1, 2011.
It was a low scoring match that Pakistan won by five wickets with 146 balls still to be played. The Men in Green dismantled a feeble batting line-up of Bangladesh for 91 in 31 overs; however, the Bangladeshi bowlers refused to
lay down their weapons without a fight. They put up a valiant effort to dismiss Pakistan’s top order and stretch the match to 26 overs.
Bangladesh were left high and dry by Afridi, who is certainly the man of the hour for Pakistan. The flamboyant all-rounder was arguably the Man of the Match, as he was the highest run scorer of the game and took the most wickets.
Afridi’s blade fetched him 24 runs and with the ball he took five wickets while conceding 23 runs.
Delighted with how things are turning out for him, Afridi said, “I am happy with the way I am bowling. I was cool when I went into bat, the coach told me to play easy and that is what I did. I am experimenting with my bowling and
it is coming off well.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in ODI’s. Afridi believes players focus and Misbah-ul-Haq’s captaincy are the reasons
behind the sudden rise in Pakistani cricket.
Afridi said, “We are all focussed and we want to do well, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 series is coming up and we need to do well against them. Misbah is leading the team well and we have got complete backing from the coach and the support staff.”
The Men in Green haven’t lost a series under the leadership of Misbah and they have a very good chance to do it once again, when Pakistan face Bangladesh in the second ODI game of the series. The match between the two sides is
scheduled to be played at the same venue on Saturday, December 3, 2011.
