Shahid Afridi lashes out at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Ilyas-Mahmood-c76948 for working against him
Pakistan’s former one-day captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sahibzada-Mohammad-Shahid-Khan-Afridi-c87933, has revealed that selector, Mohammad Ilyas, who happens to be the father-in-law of the left-handed batsman, Imran Farhat, has been working against him and inciting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman,
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128.
Speaking to the media, the furious Afridi said, “There is a lobby that works against me and Illyas is their head. He blames me for his son-in-law Imran Farhat being dropped from the team. He cares a d**n about rest of the selections.”
In the past, there have been reports which suggested that Ilyas holds immense influence over the selectors and blatantly backs his son-in-law.
Critics believe that Imran Farhat has always been selected for the national team on the behest of Ilyas, who seems to have leverage over the current and previous officials of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB).
Afridi who, announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday, clarified that he will still play domestic and county cricket, however, the PCB which is extremely disappointed by the all-rounder, has cancelled his central contract and also stripped
off the NOC which is used by players to play in other leagues.
Without the exclusive NOC from the PCB, England’s county club, Hamshire, cannot allow the 31-year-old Afridi to play in their squad this summer. Neither can he play the inaugural Sri Lankan Premier League.
Proving his point, the former skipper, criticising PCB’s decision to slap him with punishment for violating the code of conduct, said, “What indiscipline have I done? I gave a statement in which I took no names. Chief selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595 had openly blamed
head coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mal-Loye-c1879 called him to Lahore and met him to sort out things. Why couldn’t I have been called to Lahore the same way? The thing is they didn’t respect me.”
Meanwhile, Ijaz Butt has accepted Afridi’s retirement and feels that it is time for Pakistan Cricket to look beyond Afridi, similarly, chief selector Mohsin Khan has also termed the retirement of Shahid Afridi as a minor thing, which will not affect the
national team.
