http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 Afridi may get a chance to meet President Zardari – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 may get a chance to meet the nation’s Premier as well as the Chief Patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board
(PCB), Asif Ali Zardari, who is currently visiting Karachi, the home-city of Afridi.
According to a source, it is not yet confirmed whether the President may rendezvous with Afridi since his visit to Karachi and the larger part of Sindh concerns political matters as well as visiting the unfortunate recently flood-hit areas of the region.
“It is not 100 per cent confirmed but yes there are indications that President Zardari will take some time out from his busy schedule on Tuesday to devote to cricket issues,” stated a government source.
Reports also suggest that if Zardari is to take time out for cricket, he may also meet the ‘infamous’ Chairman of PCB, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580.
The indefinite meeting may highlight the ongoing rift between Butt and Miandad, which erupted after the latter refused to respond to a show cause notice that was issued to Miandad for recently slamming the Board for its erroneous decision making.
In Miandad’s defence, the nation’s former batting legend cited that he had no intensions of responding to the notice since he is only answerable to the Chief Patron of the Board, who had initially appointed Miandad for his current post on the board.
As for Afridi, who is famously known for hard knocks on the pitch, the all-rounder also developed a somewhat similar conflict with the Board, soon after the team’s successful Tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, earlier this year.
However, for the current affair, Afridi recently expressed his eagerness to get back on the national roster and stated that he is ready to play for Pakistan under any captain.
"All I want is an improved dressing room environment and that appears to be happening and Coach http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 is also now gone," Afridi said.
However, according to sources, the lingering Butt-PCB-Afridi conflict may only come out with some verdict only if the Chief Patron intervenes into the matter, since Afridi’s recent attempts to get back on the squad with the aid of his ‘political contacts’
have failed.
