Shahid Afridi meets Zaka Ashraf – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistan skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482, on Wednesday met the newly appointed chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf in his office at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore; however the belligerent all-rounder failed to receive an assurance from the
PCB chief about his return into the national side.
The hard-hitting Pakistan batsman, who had announced retirement from all cricket in May after the Caribbean tour, told the media reporters that he still has a lot of cricket left in him and that the Pakistan cricket chairman has raised his morale a lot.
"I still have a lot to offer to the Pakistan cricket,” said Afridi while talking to the media reporters in Lahore after his meeting with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashraf-c46397. “I am grateful to the Chairman for meeting me and listening to me. I am grateful that he raised my morale a lot,"
he added further.
Afridi had announced retirement from International cricket in a protest against his sacking as the limited-overs captain of Pakistan team by the then PCB chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 during,
the Caribbean itinerary, his last International tour with Pakistan team.
However, since both Ijaz and Waqar are no longer part of the current setup, the promising all-rounder has decided to make a comeback to the national side.
Afridi was confident of making a comeback to the Pakistan team for the upcoming One-Day series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. However, he admitted that his selection in the team was up to the PCB selection committee, especially the part-time chief selector Mohammad
Ilyas.
The flamboyant all-rounder, who has been playing County cricket this summer, insisted that he is on very good terms with the incumbent Pakistan skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, adding that he was ready to play in the national side under any captain.
"I just want to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and it is for the board to decide in what capacity I play. I am willing to play under any captain. I have captained the side and now I am willing to accept any role in the team because I just want to play for my country,"
Afridi said.
