Shahid Afridi, the captain of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket team, has reportedly supported the Umpire Decision Review System (UDRS), and has requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) to increase the number of challenges per team.
He is of the view that this system has helped teams to get a correct and justified verdict from the umpires.
According to media reports, Afridi has said, “The use of the UDRS is a positive development and it would not be a bad idea if its use is increased in the remaining matches of the World Cup and even after that”.
On the contrary, the Indian captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820, has criticized UDRS.
Boom Boom Afridi has said that the system has proved very useful during the matches as it minimizes many errors. He also said that many teams agree with the decision that prevails in the end.
The UDRS technology proved favourable for Pakistan, during their crucial match against minnows, Canada, on 3rd http://www.senore.com/Cricket/March-c74391 2011, when on-field umpires, Nigel Long, and, Darrel Harper were having a bad day.
The 31-year all-rounder expressed his happiness on taking 14 wickets in three matches of the mega event, which is his highest in any World Cup appearance.
He said that he feels great while playing as the leading bowler in the tournament, and lucky to grasp so many wickets.
However, he expects other bowlers of the team, to come forward and perform up to the mark. He also added, “I am pretty confident that as the others would also start taking wickets as the tournament progressed”.
Talking about the team’s performance, he added that although the team is going steadily and has sustained its position, Pakistan’s fielding was sloppy in the previous matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canada-c748.
Nevertheless, they still require a lot of effort and consistency to do well in the remainder of the tournament. Fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, could not play in the last match against Canada due to a minor groin concern.
Afridi is hopeful that his team will work hard and give their best in all three departments of the game in order to excel in the knockout phase of the mega event.
