Pakistan captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 slams Indian media for quoting him out of context
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s captain Shahid Afridi has slammed the Indian media after he was criticized for his statement that the Indian players didn’t have a big heart. He has claimed that the statement was quoted out of context, which was a wrong thing to do and not healthy
for Indo-Pak relations.
The 31-year-old said, “Media makes a big deal of small issues. It is shameful. I have always done my bit to improve Indo-Pak ties but sometimes you say something and it is interpreted the other way.”
Afridi further added, “I have enjoyed my cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and I love Indian people. Don't take my comments negatively. I have always got a lot of love and affection from Indian fans. And I request the media to play a more positive role and not waste time
on such trivial issues.”
A close friend to the veteran all-rounder stated that there was no negative talk from the Afridi against the Indian team. On his return to Pakistan, following a defeat in the semi-final against India, the Pakistan captain praised the effort of his arch rivals
and said that cricket should be taken as a game and not as a war.
However, Afridi’s friend claimed that there have been some negative remarks from a few Indian players after their victory against the Men in Green. This forced Afridi to say that his players have a bigger heart compared to his neighbouring countrymen.
During the match between Pakistan and India in the ICC World Cup 2011, there were many senior officials present from both the boards and they agreed to start a bi-lateral series between the two nations soon.
This was a positive sign for fans from both the countries, but there hasn’t been a date or venue decided until now. Pakistan are currently scheduled to play a complete series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760, which starts from Thursday the 21st of April. Both
teams will feature in one Twenty20 before playing five One Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Test matches.
Pakistan captain, who earlier wasn’t available for the Caribbean tour, will meet the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 today in order to decide the team for the upcoming tour.
