Shahid Afridi wants to follow due process of law and does not want settlement with the board
Former Pakistani limited-overs captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sahibzada-Mohammad-Shahid-Khan-Afridi-c87933, is still adamant not to appear in front of Pakistan Cricket Board’s disciplinary committee, and wants to sort out his issues with the board through court.
According to Afridi and his legal counsel, the PCB lawyers were mulling over the matter, which was resulting in financial loss for the former skipper. Afridi’s lawyer, Syed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Zafar-c43622 said that, they were compelled to take the matter to court.
Last week, in response to PCB’s sanctions against the former skipper, the revocation of his central contract and NOCs, the all-rounder sought relief from the Sindh High Court by filing a petition against the board.
Taking notice of the issue, the SHC forbade PCB to hold a disciplinary committee meeting, which according to the board, was required in order to seek Afridi’s explanation regarding his breach of contract.
However, due to delaying tactics used by the PCB, the court deferred the final hearing to June 16, and upheld PCB’s sanctions till then.
Media reports have unveiled that the former skipper is all set to challenge the PCB, even at the cost of his international career. He refuses to have any sort of settlement with the board, especially after the humiliating treatment meted out to him.
Afridi announced his “conditional” retirement on May 30, directly through media, without informing any of the board’s officials.
Expressing his disappointment with the board, Afridi stated that he will not continue playing under the current board management.
The controversies between Afridi and the board started right after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 tour, where the skipper led his team to 3-2 win in the five-match, Digicel, ODI series.
Afridi was blamed for criticizing the team’s coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193, on media, due to his alleged interference in Afridi’s domain.
The PCB took action and the star all-rounder was sacked from captaincy before the two-match ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751.
Afridi then pulled out of the Irish tour himself and shortly announced his retirement from International Cricket.
Since then, the former skipper has been engaged in holding press conferences and a legal battle against the board.
