The legal advisor of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Tafazzul Rizvi, has revealed that the verdict of the hearing regarding the disciplinary case of former One Day International skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sahibzada-Mohammad-Shahid-Khan-Afridi-c87933, will be submitted within 30 days.
Speaking to newsmen, the seasoned lawyer, who will be assisting the PCB team in the case against Afridi said, “Both PCB and Afridi have the option of approaching an independent appellate tribunal if they are not http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-Percival-Day-c45927 with the order of the disciplinary committee.”
He further said that it was now up to the former skipper to decide whether or not he wants to present himself in front of the disciplinary committee.
According to the rules and regulations, Afridi will be given an opportunity to plead his case for which he is allowed to acquire the service of a legal counsel.
Rizvi clarified that the hearing proceedings will be conducted in accordance with PCB’s 2007 conduct of disciplinary policies, which will ensure that the hearing is transparent and unbiased.
Late last month, the flamboyant all-rounder got caught in a row with the team management. As a consequence, he was sacked by the board and replaced by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, Pakistan’s Test captain.
Afridi was apparently dejected by the decision and later announced his retirement from International cricket.
He then accused the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, of being incapable of governing the Board and stated that he will not return to International cricket for as long as Butt was running the sport in the country.
In response, the PCB revoked his central contract and Non Objection Certificate (NOC). The latter is required by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricketers to play domestic cricket in other countries.
By these measures, the PCB has caused a lot of problems for the 31-year old. Afridi desperately requires the NOC otherwise he will be missing out on his stint with Hamshire and will be unable to play in the upcoming Sri Lankan Premier League.
It is expected that Afridi will seek the reinstatement of his NOC in front of the disciplinary committee, on 8 June, 2011.
