Sources inside Pakistan cricket board have turned down the talks that former limited-overs captain, Shahid Afridi’s decision of not featuring in the two-match One Day International series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 has got some connection with his sacking as the team
skipper.
"Afridi wants to spend time with his ailing father who is under treatment in the United States. It has nothing to do with him being removed from the one-day team captaincy," a source claimed.
The flamboyant all-rounder pulled out of the Ireland series on Tuesday citing his father’s illness. A leading sports channel of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 reported today that the leg-spinner had informed the board about his unavailability for the series against the associate
side. The matches are scheduled to be played on 28th and 30th of this month.
Afridi was sacked as the captain of the team for the Ireland series by the Chairman of Pakistan Crciket Board, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, however, he was retained in the squad for the tour. It has been reported that Afridi’s media outburst against team management, specially
head coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193 has cost him the captaincy role.
Afridi, on his return home from Caribbean, had told the media reporters that he had been at logger heads with the team coach over team selection for the five-match ODI series. He revealed that the issue had reached at such a serious note that he was ready
to miss the last two games of the five-match series, which the tourists had won by 3-2.
Now http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, the regular Test captain of Pakistan team, will lead the side in the ODI series as well.
It has also been reported that the PCB chief is not happy with Waqar Younis as well and is mulling over having a decisive talk with him once the team returns home from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
"Butt has expressed his displeasure over Waqar's growing interference in meetings with senior board officials and indications are that when the team returns home, he will be having a decisive talk with Waqar," the source added.
