The row between the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board and the recently axed skipper, Shahid Khan Afridi, took a new turn when the latter announced his retirement from International cricket.
Afridi backed his “conditional” retirement by citing the maltreatment meted out to him by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Boom Boom Afridi expressed the fact that nothing tops a man’s respect, humiliation by “dishonourable” people forced him to make such a decision.
He said, “The way I've been treated ... the future doesn't look too good. I can't play under a board that doesn't respect its players. Because of this, under protest, this is a conditional retirement”
Even though the former skipper has retired from International cricket, he will be gracing fields in different competitions. Afridi was recently contracted to lead a side in the upcoming Sri Lankan Premier League.
When asked about a possible return to International Cricket, Afridi declared that if new management took over the Pakistan Cricket Board, he will be willing to return.
Afridi added that there was a specific group in Lahore which is heavily conspiring against him.

If such a state of affairs continues, Pakistan will keep on loosing significant assets like him.
Afridi stood by the Men in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 through thick and thin. He not only led the cornered tigers from the front but he also guided an under-rated side to the penultimate round of the prestigious World Cup tournament.
Despite of the fact that he was handed over the reins of a mutilated side, he kept on working hard and striving for excellence. The PCB however, disrespected the national hero, stripping him of his ranks.
According to the PCB, Afridi has been axed as he violated the board’s code of conduct. After returning from his successful tour of West-indies, where he led the team to a 3-2 series win, Afridi publically criticized the administration for not letting him
do his job.
Moreover, he also mentioned that a few team officials were meddling in selection affairs, which are not part of their job.
Highlighting the back drop of this recent controversy Afridi said, "I wasn't told anything when I was made captain, I wasn't given a tenure, I wasn't told what my squad would be, nothing. I took a broken team along with me. Maybe I have become a thorn in
their throats. It’s better that I step aside for now as I have respect for myself."
