Shahram Changezi beats Khurram Agha to book final spot in 3rd National Ranking Snooker Championship
Islamabad’s Shahram Changezi was not able to make it to the final encounter of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) second National Ranking Snooker tournament. However, this time he cruised his way into the ultimate clash by a tremendous victory over one
of the most experienced potters of the line-up, Khurram Agha by the score line of 6-1 in the semi-final encounter.
The penultimate clash of the Jubilee Insurance Third National Ranking Snooker Championship between Changezi and Agha at the Karachi Gymkhana Club was expected to be a thrilling encounter but Changezi did not let it go into a situation where it might have
been difficult for him to come up as victorious. The Islamabad cuemen made it so easy for him to win the game by grabbing an early lead.
Changezi showed a great performance from the beginning of the event this time and grabbed a strong position after the finish of the round robin formatted group stage. He faced Sohail Shahzad in the quarter-final clash and defeated him by the score line of
5-4 to set up Agha semi-final encounter. Changezi was pretty confident before he entered the arena to start the action.
The talented Changezi fired a tremendous clearance of 79 points to claim the first frame win in one visit by the score line of 79-0 and get a quick lead of 1-0. The second frame was no different than the first one as Changezi pocketed a fine clearance of
76 points to win the frame by 99-0 and extend his lead to 2-0.
Agha bounced back in the third frame with a 30-point run but it was not enough to stop Changezi’s momentum as he compiled 62 points to win the set by the score line of 3-0. At this point, Agha was under immense pressure because he was not given any chances
by his opponent. The first session finished in Changezi’s favour when he won the fourth frame 60-0.
Changezi continued his dominance in the second session with a superb triumph in the fifth frame with 81-4 score line. Agha clinched the sixth frame by 25-112 firing a 90-point break but it went in vain as Changezi took the seventh set by 83-26 to reserve
his chair in the final encounter.
