Shailyn? The sound of it?

Question

I love the name Shailyn for a girl with the nickname Shay. But if you say it out loud a few times it kind of sounds like those ghetto names, like Shanequa, etc. What do you think? Is Shailyn okay?

Any middle name suggestions too?

i like the spelling shaelyn. is it pronounced shay lynn because that doesnt sound ghetto to me. shay alone does a little but not shailyn. either spelling is unique. i like the name either way. sorry no  middle name suggestions ; (

no matter how you spell it...i dont like it.

think of the name not only as belonging to an infant or ponytailed toddler, but a lawyer or doctor.

I'm not wild about it.  But the more I say it, the more I like it. So maybe it would grow on me.  Its not too ghetto.  It's nice.

hmmm... I like the sound of it too, but the spelling is pretty awkward. I knew a girl named Shalene (pronouced shay-lean). What about maybe Shaylin, Shaelin, or Shaylinn?

Shailyn looks like "shail - inn" it runs together.

I personally don't like the name I went to school w/ a girl that had that name and worked w/ someone else who had that name and they were both ghetto, and that's what I think of at least when when I hear the name. I do like the name Shea though I don't think there's anything wrong w/ that as her first name. I think it's cute when little girls have boys names.

My best friend's name is Shaylee, kind of similar... and growing up no one thought it was "ghetto" at all. I don't think you have to worry about that. As long as she doesn't wear those styles or live in those places people won't think she is something she's not just because of her name.

Go for Shailyn if you like it that way best, but Shaelyn is also a pretty choice.

When I was trying to decide what to name my baby girl, someone told me to pick out names, then yell them out the front door a few times. If you still like it after that, chances are it's a keeper. I didn't yell out my door, but I did inside my house, and very glad I did. The name I was in love with was very similar to Shailyn, and it just didn't feel right. Instead, I did some more research, and now when my daughter is misbehaving, the name I do yell fits. Good luck!  :)

I dont like the name SHAILYN at all. But the spelling Shaelyn is uglier.

Shailinn is prettyyy!! But i still dont like the sound of it. It does sound ghetto, u are sooo right !!!!!

But it isnt AS ghetto as Shanequa .. lol
