Shakey Start for Milan - Part 2
Alexandre Pato hardly did any favours to his reputation last night. The young striking sensation did not look as though he was up for the fight during the first half. And without any surprise he was rightly substituted early in the second half. Alexander Pato is a very promosing young talent at the San Siro. Before the arrival of two new strikers; Ibrahimovic and Robinho, Pato was the main striking power for the Red and Blacks.
Robinho took the responsibility from the young Brazillian. Thats how, that night witnessed the best possible attacking players, at least on papers. It was Robinho debut in the colors of Milan and what a way to start it in San Siro, the brazillian assisted Ibrahimovic for the first goal of Milan of this European season.
Robinho was very energetic and intelligent on the pitch. It was hard for Auxerre defender to mark him. His pace created alot of oppurtinuties for the Italian Giants. There was a spark in the games after his induction.
On the hand, Alexandro Pato will have to show the glimpses of talent that he poses and has shown over the years at San Siro. Pato will have to start putting more efforts as the competition for the first team place is tough now following the arrival of Robinho.
The defence line of Milan does not look as strong when Thiago Silva and Alessender Nesta are not playing together. The legendary Italian defender, Alessender Nesta was easily outjumped for the header by the attacker that hit the woodwork in the first half of the match. Perhaps Silvio should have spent some of the cash in bringing some adequate defensive cover at the centre back position.
Just like the last Milan match, which they lost against the newly promoted Casena away by 2- nil, Alessender Nesta was badly missed by Milan defence. Shockingly, the Italian Giants conceded two goals and they were being constantly outgunned by the Casena players. Milan’s defence was very vulnerable. Last night, in the first half Milan was almost going to concede a goal from the inexperienced Auxerre side. Thanks to their striker who went for the glory instead of giving pass, and completely misplaced the shot.
Obivously, it was not all doom and gloom at the San Siro. The latest signing, talented young Ghana midfielder, Kevin Prince Boateng put in an excellent showing in midfield. Milan sorely required his two main qualities that is his youth and energy. He was almost going to cap his stuning performance with a late try at the goal.
One area that gives Milan fans a cause for optimism is Zambrotta’s play. He was quite simply unplayable in the second half. Strong openenet will surely cause problems for the left-wing-back and restrict his movement. But if he can find motivation to remain up for the top flight games then his link play could pay more dividends for Milan.
With a doubt, there is another aspect to remember is that this team has been bolstered by a number of players who have not had the right amount of time to get to know each other and to be able to function effectively as a unit.
Bottom of Form
ArAaaaaaaaA.C Milan fans at San Siro witnessed glimpses of the team chemistry last night and with time it will only get better. The new signing, Robinho in particular looked lively and with more match practice and time to get used to the team's style of play, the attack can only get better.
There remains the uncertainty that how this new Milan squad will perform against the top end of European football’s elite sides. With another signing or two in January, particularly in the centre back and left back positions, Milan could be a very dangerous force in Europe this season.
Only time will tell. At least, this time, they kept a clean sheet.
