Shakhtar Donetsk boss confirms A.S Roma interest in Douglas Costa: Serie A news
Shakhtar Donetsk manager, Mircea Lucescu, has confirmed that Italian giants, A.S Roma, want to sign the attacking midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-Costa-c11607, in the summer transfer window.
Costa has attracted interest from several top European clubs throughout the summer transfer window. Several clubs including English Champions, Manchester United and Italian giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 were thought to be making a move for the attacker but they could not agree on the price with the Ukrainian outfit.
Lucescu confirmed that Roma have started to show an interest in the playmaker but everything is in the initial stages. The tactician confirmed that the Giallorossi have not come up with a firm offer as yet and they will assess the situation in the next few days. The Romanian added that he would love to keep the midfielder at the club because he is a great talent for the future.
Talking to the reporters Lucescu said, “I know that Roma are interested in Douglas Costa and have made the first steps to sign him. Nothing official has been done yet, but I’d prefer to keep him in the squad because he is young, only 20 years old, and had a great start to his time with us.”
“We’ll be playing in the Champions League and he has a group of Brazilians in Donetsk with him however, if I am put in a position to sell, then there’s nothing I can do about it. I won’t keep players who do not want to be here, but Douglas Costa is certainly a great talent.”
The 20-year-old will fit the bill perfectly for Luis Enrique’s side, as they are looking to sign the player of similar style. Enrique will try to focus on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 in the region of 15-million-pounds.
However, Shakhtar in the UEFA Champions for the upcoming season, while Roma failed to qualify for the competition and Costa might wait for the deal until the next summer.
