Shakhtar’s Adriano confident they can beat Barcelona 4-0 in second leg: UEFA Champions League news
The FC Shakhtar Donetsk’s forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luiz-Adriano-c22841, has full faith in his team that they can beat Barcelona 4-0 in the second-leg of the quarter-final of UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, 12 April, 2011.
The Ukrainian Champions lost 5-1 in the first leg at the Camp Nou last week but Adriano has not given up on qualification to semi-finals as yet.
"We don't just want to beat Barcelona in the second leg, but we want to reach the next round as well. That's all we want. What's the point of playing if we have already given up on the semi-finals?" said Adriano.
"Barcelona beat us 5-1 at home, so why shouldn't be able to beat them 4-0? We won 3-0 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and we need only one goal more. There are still 90 minutes to be played and the team is still convinced that we can progress."
FC Shakhtar have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time in their history. They have had an amazing time in this year’s campaign, as they topped their group ahead of the Arsenal, the Sporting Braga and the Partizan
Beograd. The Miners went on to beat the AS Roma 6-2 in the last-16 round of fixtures.
Adriano believes that his team did not deserve the thrashing at the Camp Nou and they could have achieved a better result. Their attacking game has been phenomenal throughout the current campaign and they have amassed 26 goals in the competition so
far. The 23-year-old added that his team was really unlucky to have scored only one goal in the first leg. He added that they could have scored at least two to three goals, if had they taken their chances.
The Brazilian went on to praise Barcelona for making their chances count and finishing the game in the driver’s seat to qualify for the semi-finals. However, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Internacional-c39573 forward is looking forward to the second leg and wants to perform
corrective measures for their first-leg’s mistakes at the Donbass Arena.
