Shakib Al http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 tour – Cricket News Update
Bangladeshi premier all-rounder, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c2492, will sit out the team’s trip to Zimbabwe after his request to take a break was accepted by the cricket board.
The left-hander has played non-stop cricket over the past couple of years and earlier voiced concerns over the amount of cricket he has had to play. Since making his debut in 2006, the left-hander has had brief layoffs in 2008 and 2009 but barring from that,
has featured in almost every game for the national team - plying his trade in 15 Tests, 70 ODIs and 8T20 international.
In addition, he has also made concrete appearances in the lucrative leagues at home – the  inaugural Bangladesh Premier League -  and the Indian Premier League. He was named the Player of the Series in the former T20 event, while played a crucial part for
Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 5, which culminated in the club’s first ever triumph where they defeated defending champions Chennai Super Kings. He then attended the franchise’s open-top bus parade, and also took part in the ceremony which took place at Eden
Gardens – attended by tens of thousands of KKR supporters.
Following the conclusion of the IPL, he went straight back to club cricket and helped Victoria Sporting in sealing the domestic crown following a narrow two-wicket win over Old DOHS at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium last night.
He was also expected to make an appearance for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751. He however, put in a formal request with the BCB, pleading for a break and luckily, his wishes
were granted as confirmed by board.
"The BCB Cricket Operations Department decided to withdraw Shakib from the tour squad following a request from the player," a board release stated. "The break was approved considering the continuous cricket Shakib has played over the last two years.”
The player will now gear himself up for the team’s World Cup T20 campaign, in September, before taking part in the Champions League T20, held in October, where he will be representing KKR.
