Experienced http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 due to a shin injury, which he had picked up during the second Test in Khulna last week.
The veteran left-hander went for a scan after day four of the second Test and was diagnosed with a stress reaction of the right tibia. The all-rounder missed the final day of the Khulna Test, which his side lost by ten wickets, and will also sit out the opening two games of the ODI series, Bangladesh's team physiotherapist Vibhav Singh confirmed on Sunday.
"We have decided that he [Shakib Al Hasan] ... will miss the two ODIs in Khulna," Vibhav Singh said. "We will review his scan report with an orthopaedic specialist in Dhaka to decide the best management plan for Shakib," the physio added further.
Shakib, who has played 28 Tests so far, had a huge workload during the ten-wicket defeat in Khulna as he bowled 52 overs picking up four wickets, and scored 97 runs on the fourth day, before being dismissed in the final over of the day.
The hosts have not yet named a reinforcement for the experienced all-rounder. "We haven't decided upon a replacement," BCB chief selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Akram-Khan-c42577 told ESPNcricinfo. "We will announce the name in a day or two."
Meanwhile, West Indies will be without the likes of right-arm fast bowler Tino Best in the entire ODI series and the one-off T20 International. Best picked up a Grade 1 lateral hamstring strain on the first day of the second Test in Khulna.
"Though being able to bowl in the second innings with pain-killing injections, he [Best] will need to return home to Barbados for ongoing treatment and rehabilitation," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clark-c51118, the West Indies cricket team physio, told media persons on Sunday. "It is expected that he will be back to full fitness for the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament in January."
The Barbadian speedster was the pick of the Caribbean bowlers in the recently concluded two-Test affair, which the tourists won 2-0, clinching a dozen wickets at a marvellous average of 14.33. The tourists have called up uncapped Jason Holder as Best’s replacement for the limited-overs leg of the itinerary.
The first One Day International of the five-match series starts in Khulna on November 30.
