Shaky debut for Los Angeles Angels’ infielder Mark Trumbo – MLB News
The Los Angeles Angels infielder Mark Trumbo starts his career in the South Los Angeles franchise with two fielding errors on Friday against the Kansas City Royals disappointing many who initially were expecting a perfect game from him.
Trumbo said later on Saturday explaining his thoughts on the very performance of his poor play.
He said, "I'd be lying if I said otherwise. It's not that I don't have confidence in myself, but I know how hard the pitchers work to get outs, and any time you don't pick them up, I take a lot of pride in contributing on multiple levels, and when you're not able to do that, it leaves a real sour taste."
He added, “But I have to use it as motivation to try to get better. I made a good play on the grounder and pulled my throw a bit — maybe I need to pick up the target a little better.”
Trumbo is one of those unfortunate players who despite turn professionals early receive potential playing chances late, while this is exactly happened with Mark Trumbo. He was drafted by the Angels management in 2004 and played several years in their farm systems in the Minor League before actually played a Major League game in 2010.
Later sources stated in the media that he was brought back into the majors for Mike Napoli as pinch hitter while later settling on first base. From the day one since he joined the Angels franchise, the management constantly has been saying that Trumbo will be joining the team at suitable time as currently the latest strategy is still under process which suits his style of play.
Later in the 2011, Trumbo replaced Kendrys Morales who could not play due to injury while that particular season also went in vain regarding his performance.
However, since he entered into 2012 Major League Baseball season, many baseball pundits started speculating about his game, but not only those speculations have failed now as Trumbo could not start on a positive note, but this is also a worrying point for him as he still needs some motivation to perform better on the field.
