Shall I switch my son into a toddler bed?

He turned 2 1/2 April 30.

He's still comfortable in his crib, and hasn't tried climbing out.

He does love to come lay in our bed (we discourage during night)

  1. no -waste of money.  but, it's a great time to set up a single bed in the room.  lower the crib rails and put a night light in the room, so that the child can decide where he wants to sleep.  in a few weeks, you can donate the crib.

  2. Why bother with a toddler bed?  get him like a twin or single sized bed so it's a real big boys bed...if you decide to switch him make it fun for him...let him pick out some sheets (or maybe even the bed itself)...

  3. If he is not climbing out of his crib then why mess something that is working for him.  My daughter is 22 months old and i had no choice but to convert her bed because she kept on jumping out.  But i would have kept her in the crib for as longer if i could have.

  4. unless he is able to get out of crib i would keep him in it.

  5. I think you should put him in a toddler bed.  You want him to feel like a big boy and begin to act like a big boy at that age.  So, he needs to get out of the baby bed.

  6. If he's happy in the crib then I would leave him there especially since he hasn't tried climbing out.  My older 2 children were moved from their crib to a bed when they were about 2 1/2 but that's because I needed the crib for a new baby.  My 3rd child just turned 3 and is still in the crib.  She's never climbed out and I don't need the drib for her baby brother yet.  I plan to start moving her closer to Christmas.

  7. Well thats a choice to make as parents.  We put each of our boys in big boy beds at different times.  Mostly cause they tried climbing out of them or baby was on the way again.

Being 2 1/2  I would say he is more then ready for a toddler bed.

    Good Luck

  8. If he's not climbing out, I'd leave him in there. Once he starts climbing out, I'd just go to a regular bed.
