Chihuahua's are fine, but can be snappy and awkward, especially with kids.

Dachshunds are much milder in manner and are very loving and loyal.

It's all down to your own personal preferences really.

both are beautiful mini long haired daxis are beautiful dogs, and my daughter wants a chowowa! however we have conceded that with two cocker spaniel boys we may end up with a set of chaniel cockowawa's,,,, we did giggle.... you choice of small dogs is good.

They are both pretty cool dogs.  My friend has a Chihuahua and it is so funny and cute.  I have a dachshund and she is a good dog as well...super cuddly and sweet.  The down side is that both of them are difficult to potty train.  My hubby is an excellent dog trainer and we are just having h**l getting her to do her business outside.  It's sooo frustrating.  My friend with Chihuahua has the same problem.  They just put let them hang outside a lot of the time and crate them at night.

Please don't thumbs down me just because my friends let their dogs stay outside...it's not my dog nor my decision. I didn't say that I did the same.  Thanks a bunch...

Get a sausage dog then at least IF there is a food shortage you can eat the dog with mustard etc....

a sausage dog my nan had one years ago and it was a lovley dog . a good companion and very clean
