Shame time for Tim Tebow as Chiefs overcome Broncos 7-3 - NFL Recap
In the second straight shame for Tim Tebow, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos 7-3 in yet another poor show shown by the Broncos at home.
Tebow had earlier boasted of his confidence being fine after a humiliating 40-14 loss to the bottom team of AFC East, the Buffalo Bills who rebounded from seven straight losses to beat the Broncos. However, there was more disgrace coming on to Tebow who
failed to do anything in the second straight game. Kyle Orton proved to be the guy whom Tebow could not beat during the practice sessions and now in the field he failed to beat Orton once again.
Last time after the Buffalo humiliation, Tebow was found capitalizing on the next game to save face and now he got another chance when the San Diego Charger beat the Oakland Raiders, thus helping the Broncos clinch the AFC West title.
"It's obviously a little bittersweet right now," Tebow said. "We would have loved to have won that game to have a little momentum going into the playoffs. But I think it's still a special thing what we accomplished, to come back and win the AFC West is very
special."
Broncos coach John Fox didn’t care even less about the poor show by Tebow.
"Well, we're AFC West champs. It doesn't matter how you do it. Once you get into the dance, they can't kick you out." Fox said.
Tebow fared poorly throughout the game just completing 6 of 22 passes for a mere 60 yards while also going for an interception. Orton proved much better than Tebow. Orton completed 15 of 29 passes for 180 yards and gave in no interceptions. So Orton who
had been released by the Broncos earlier for Tebow finally had his revenge. Orton congratulated the Broncos for making it to the playoffs.
The Chiefs took the lead at the end of the first quarter when Dexter McCluster ran 21 yards for a touchdown with just 11 seconds remaining. The lead was maintained throughout the game and all the Broncos could manage was a 38 yard field goal by Matt Prater
in the third quarter.
Dexter McCluster of the Chiefs went for 61 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown while Willis McGahee of Broncos went for 145 yards on 28 carries but could not score even once.
Overall, the game will bring in a brighter prospect for the Chiefs interim coach Romeo Crennel who really proved his worth in the last game he had. Though unable to win the previous game, Crennel had led the Chiefs to an amazing victory over the unbeaten
Green Bay Packers. Crennel, who has been eying the post of permanent coach of the Chiefs ever since he was appointed the interim coach, may now have his chances strengthened, though it would be too premature to suggest anything.
