Sri Lanka Cricket on Wednesday called up fast-bowling all-rounder Shaminda Eranga as a replacement for the injured http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AD-Mathews-c913 in their squad that is currently participating in the quadrangular Asia Cup tournament in Bangladesh.

De Mel revealed that slinger Lasith Malinga is battling a groin strain and is a doubtful starter for Thursday’s match against Pakistan, adding that Eranga might take the field in Malinga’s absence.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SL-Malinga-c2540 is nursing a groin strain and he was left out of the first match against India," said De Mel speaking to media reporters on Wednesday. "He will most probably play in tomorrow's game against Pakistan, We thought Eranga,
who has recovered from his shoulder injury, would be useful because he can bat as well."
Mathews has been ruled out of the latest edition of the Asia Cup with a calf injury, which he had sustained during the recently concluded Commonwealth Bank series Down Under. The injury also kept him out of the CB series finals against
Australia.
Eranga, the 25-year-old Chilaw all-rounder made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in October-November
last year, but was forced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury.
Apart from Mathews, the Islanders are also sweating over the fitness of another fast bowler, Thisara Perera. Perera sustained a back injury during the triangular CB series, which also featured world champions http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750. He will also
miss Thursday’s Asia Cup contest against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972 and his Men in Green.
Having lost the tournament opener against India by 50 runs, the Lankans would have to win the match against Pakistan to keep their hopes alive of making the March 22 Asia Cup final. A win for Pakistan will ensure their safe passage.
