  1. They have bath time sprays at petsmart that have a nice smell to them. Try using that while you bathe him.

  2. DO NOT SHAMPOO YOUR AMAZON!

Amazons have a very distinctive 'scent' about them.  it is NATURAL.  When they get excited or agitated they give off an extra 'puff' of that scent.  If you find the scent of your amazon offensive or distasteful, then sell or rehome him!

You can not get rid of that slightly musky smell.

    He will NEVER smell "fresh"...

I really hope you were kidding with this question...

I know there is a chance you are just trolling for reactions.

But I can't stand the fact that some people actually gave you advice on how to shampoo a parrot!

Others who don't know better may believe that stupidity.

  3. i would go and see a vet and ask that question or i wont risk it.

  4. Do birds in the wild have shampoo baths, try spraying him with warm water in a solution of TC.P.1 Teaspoon  1/2.pint of water if he baths then make an equal solution in his bathing water.

This will not do him any harm.

  5. Parrots need to be misted or showered a few times a week -- with cool, fresh, clean water -  ONLY.  No sprays, perfumes, shampoos, or stuff like that.

As someone else already mentioned, amazons have their own kind of smell to them.  An amazon's smell has nothing to do with being 'clean' or not.   you can't get rid of it.  Learn to love it or give the parrot to someone who will love it and care for it no matter how it "smells".

  6. they make some sprays for parrots but they are not perfumes the scent is natural and may have somthing to do with the birds age. the sprays are more of a skin conditioner than anything else but they do have a somewhat fruity smell. ask your vet is the best advice.
