im not sure if shanahan is a free agent, but this is what the lines would look like (i think) if we got shanahan back:

1st: hossa, zetterberg, datsyuk

2nd: draper shanahan holmstrom

3rd: fillpula franzen hudler

4th: maltby mccarty helm

i think that would be another stanley cup for the detroit redwings

  1. They're gonna sign LINDROS and win 14 Cups in a row! LOL

  2. It won't happen.

I'm not a big fan of your lines

IMO it will be something like:

    Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

    Franzen-Filppula-Hossa

    Cleary-Draper-Samuelsson

    Hudler-Kopecky-Maltby

    OR

    Filppula-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

    Franzen-Zetterberg-Hossa

    Cleary-Draper-Samuelsson

    Hudler-Kopecky-Maltby

Unless Helm puts on a show at training camp I see him starting the season in Grand Rapids, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him splitting time with Kopecky.

  3. shanny is probably not going back to the wings. he said himself that the rangers are the only team he wants to play for. the rangers are most likely not signing him so he probably won't be playing any where, he will probably retire. i wish the rangers would resign him but its not going to happen they have no room and no money for him. i don't think the wings would sign him anyway they just let him go and then he signed with the  rangers.

  4. Nips is right, they let shanahan go why would they pick him up now?And they dont have cap space for him any way. And as a Newfoundlander im offended that you forgot Cleary.

  5. To answer the question:

    A.  Shanahan is a free agent, but he wont be coming back.

    B.  There is no room under the salary cap.

    C.  Draper wouldnt be on the 2nd line and although your first line will be seen occasionally, it will not be together very often.

    D.  Im not trying to be a prick, but thats just the way it is.

NIPS, I have disagree with you that Detroit LET Shanny go and Im curious as to why you believe that.  Im sure your as aware as I am that the Wings offered him a good contract but he turned it down to make less in New York.  He was the one that decided it was time to part ways, not the Wings.  I'd bet that if Hossa went elsewhere this off season and Shanny showed interest in returning to Detroit that the Wings would have made a strong push to bring him in.  The Wings have been missing his shot ever since he left.

  6. The wings don't have room at all for Shanahan in their salary cap. You clearly know very little about hockey.

  7. He won't go back to the red wings cause they don't have enough room for him, besides, I don't think he would want to go back to detroit.

  8. Three things:

    1. What's with people splitting the Datsyuk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom line?

    2. Shanahan is a left wing, not a center.

    3. Shanahan will not be coming back, as much as I'd like to see him back in the winged wheel.

  9. Shanahan was let go by the WINGS. Thats right, the Wings decided that his usefulness wasnt worth the money they would have to pay him. Looking back at that decision, Ken Holland made the right move.  Besides, the WINGS will be about a million over the cap once they sign Chelios, Quincey and McCarty and will be looking to unload someone sometime during camp to get back under the CAP! Can anyone say LILJA?
