Shane Bond? I don't understand....?

I don't understand how Shane Bond is at fault here..

This is New Zealand's fault according to these statements (below) from Bond. What a loss for New Zealand and Bond.

Can someone explain this to me?

There is a trace of anger in Bond's account of his ban.

"I asked for permission from the New Zealand board to join the ICL. If they had said, 'No, you can't' then I'd be in the IPL now. But they actually said yes and so I signed my contract with the ICL.

Then a little later they said: 'No, you can't go anymore.' It was disappointing and I was pretty grumpy for a while.

In the media it was made to look pretty much like I'd done a runner. And that wasn't the case.

It's not an ideal way to end your career and one of the more disappointing things for me is that no one even said: 'It's a shame you can't play anymore but thanks for your contributions and good luck.' It was just a case of, 'Oh, he doesn't want to play anymore so bugger off!' That irritates me most

  1. From his side of the story of course he is going to make himself look blameless and the selectors look like they are at fault!!!.

The real truth is that- every player around the world knew that the ICL was an un-official compettion!! they knew that it would be very very dangerous to join. They knew that if they did join the ICL then they could potentially never play for there country again. Every player knew that!!

NZ cricket may have said it was ok to join at first, but every countries board wouldnt want there best player to do what Shane Bond did so thats why they were so reluctant to see him go!! Bond turned his back on NZ cricket and thats a fact!!

I agree with Bond when he said that he deserved a thank you for all the hard work that he's done over the years for NZ!! He does deserve a thank you!!

  2. thats bad!he was an excellent fast bowler for nZ- shame on the selectors!!!!

  3. TREATING SUCH A GREAT BOWLER LIKE SHANE BOND IS SHAME FOR NZ SELECTORS!!!!

  4. Selectors of all countries seem to treat their players shabbily.

  5. i dont really care which one of them is at fault, personally i feel ripped off because New Zealand are playing out here in the coming summer, and i wont get to see a world class player that i really enjoy watching (even if he does have a habit of sticking it up us on the field) because of this disagreement, whoever is at fault!

ah well, i suppose at least i'll finally get a proper look at Dale Steyn, as i havent got the chance to see him in REAL cricket yet! but the little bit ive seen in IPL has very much impressed me!

  6. KooKee has put it so eloquently. I can't improve on that.

  7. ******* selectors.
