Shane Duff showers praise on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301’s ton in Big Bash – Cricket News Update
The Sydney Thunder coach Shane Duff believes that David Warner’s performance in his first match of the Big Bash Twenty20 League against Melbourne Stars was worth the $200000 paid for signing him.
Warner is expected to be a part of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s upcoming four match Test series against India, starting from Monday, December 26, 2011. Therefore, he will not be able to participate in the rest of the Big Bash for Thunder.
However, Duff said that it was not a big concern for the franchise, as the explosive opener had already given them a solid momentum.
According to the Thunder coach, “I think he was always going to be playing in the Boxing Day Test and beyond so it was a huge bonus for us to have him do what he did in the one game he was going to play for us. He's obviously a super talent and he's maximised his performance for the one game he was available so we're very pleased.”
Duff went onto say, “He's the cricketer everyone is talking about at the moment - not just in Australia but all around the world. He's been recognised as an absolute superstar. He's been great for us in terms of getting the Sydney Thunder name out there.”
Warner was the skipper of Sydney Thunder against Melbourne Stars and guided the team to a comfortable victory by six wickets and the same number of balls remaining.
Thunder had to chase 154 runs for victory, but lost a couple of wickets early including West Indian http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729.
However, Warner did not bother about the fall of wickets and cruised to a fabulous century. He ended up with an unbeaten 102 runs off just 51 balls, clobbering six fours and the same number of mighty sixes.
The explosive left-handed batsman made the opposition’s bowling look ordinary and guided the team to victory in 19 overs. He won the man of the match award for this spectacular batting display and will look to continue the same dominance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in the Test series.
The 25-year-old will be quite confident heading into the series, as his last Test innings was also an unbeaten century against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
