The British Championship Open 2012 finally comes to an end and the European tour continues with its regular season. It is time for one of the most prestigious events of the tour, the Lyoness Open.
The biggest names in the world of golf have gathered one more time on the prestigious stage of the Austrian Open, the Diamond Country Club.
The course is situated in Atzenbrugg, Austria, 35km west of Vienna. The event teed off on the 25th of July and is supposed to end on the 28th of July. All the players in the tournament are looking to impress the fans with their game.
Two players who successfully impressed the spectators are Shane Lowry and Gregory Bourdy. Both the players had a decent end to the first round at Atzenbrugg.
Shane Lowry scored his first birdie of the day on the second hole. It was followed by three consecutive pars and a bogey, which came on the sixth hole.
Towards the end, he had two more birdies on the seventh and ninth hole. These made his score two-under par on the front nine.
His back nine was not as good as his front nine. He only managed to card two birdies that came on the twelfth and thirteen holes. Unfortunately for the Irish, he also scored two more bogeys on the fifteenth and seventeenth hole.
There were no eagles or double bogeys for Lowry in the first round. These made his score even par on the back nine and his total score became two-under par.
Gregory Bourdy had a similar day. He had a bad start. Nonetheless, he made up for it towards the end. Bourdy started off with a double bogey and a bogey on the first and second hole, respectively. He had three birdies on the front nine, on the fifth, sixth
and eighth hole.
He had a much better back nine. He started off with an eagle which came from the tenth hole. Later on, he carded a birdie and a bogey on the fourteenth and seventeenth hole, respectively. These made his total score after the first round two-under par.
Both the players had the same score and completed the 72 par course in 70 shots. After the first round, they were tied at the 21st spot, six strokes behind the leader.
